A Lifestyle Family Beach Session - Nanaimo, Vancouver Island Family Photographer

I have worked with the Krige family on a number of occasions. This adorable little family was actually one of my earliest family clients from back when I started my photography business. I was so excited to get to work with them once again when we planned a spring session at Rathtrevor Beach, in Parksville, BC.

We really lucked out the night of our session with some beautiful spring sunshine. The weather was warm(ish) - as warm as spring gets on Vancouver Island. The tide was out, the beach was not overly busy and the skies were nice and clear! It was honestly a pretty perfect scenario and we were very thankful, especially since you never know what the weather is going to throw at you on the island!

During this photo session we spent an hour exploring and running around on the shoreline. We ran through the water and sand, found ourselves a washed up frisbee, and all had the very best time capturing some precious moments of this little family. During my photo sessions, especially with those who have young kids, I try making family sessions a fun experience for everyone. I make sure to incorporate lots of movement during my sessions - whether we play a game, search for items on the shore, build a sand castle, etc. I find that when the kids can explore and have a bit of fun, the candid photos showing their personalities come so much easier (and these three kiddos are FULL of so much personality!).
